Artist' Statement

Manipulating paper, which I have painted and designed, by sanding, tearing away, gluing over and repainting, gives me a feeling of being totally creative. It is a dimension above the commercial art and realism courses I took when learning to master oil, watercolor and acrylics. The tactile process conjures up warm childhood memories of my grandmother, mother and sisters who taught me to quilt, knit, crochet and sew. My artwork reflects personal messages, moods and memories of interacting with my own children, looking for answers of life and death during my husband's terminal illness, and my formative years.
